The onsemi Technical Support Center was established at UNIZA as the first university in Slovakia

Five years ago, onsemi Slovakia established the onsemi Technical Support Centre (TSC) on UNIZA premises to facilitate collaborative activity between the two organizations. The program has been highly successful as the current onsemi TSC engineering team consists of mostly UNIZA graduates, who provide worldwide technical support to onsemi customers. The presence of TSC at the university has brought industry experience and problem-solving and blended it with academic principles. By deepening the expertise in the field of application support for complex integrated circuits, interest in the technical study programs in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of UNIZA increased significantly

UNIZA is one of the European leaders in the field of cooperation between universities and industry

The cooperation between onsemi and UNIZA is now also internationally recognized. At the 10th Central Eastern Europe Business Summit and Awards in Warsaw, the center was awarded Best University-Business Cooperation for Central and Eastern Europe. "Winning this prestigious award underlines the results of five years of tenacious teamwork". according to Ján Grauzeľ, manager of the Global Technical Support Centre. "It is an appreciation of the technical skills of our employees, investments, application development, achieved synergies and ultimately proves that the model of cooperation that we jointly applied with the University of Žilina has been successful."

Pavol Špánk, PhD., Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of UNIZA, reflecting positively on the success of TSC says: "I supported the opening of the joint center, seeing it as an excellent opportunity not only for our students to work on the latest technologies but also for the Žilina region, where it has contributed greatly to the development of the electrotechnical industry. This activity fully aligns with the established trend at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering towards greater cooperation with industry."

"As a technology company, being on the faculty floor is important as it gives us access to the talent we are looking for to support our highly specific technical solutions,“ said Andrej Tomašik, general manager, ON Semiconductor Slovakia, a.s. "It also allows us to support education in Slovakia by making the latest technologies available on campus.“
