Out with the old and in with the new, as the saying goes. Since 1952, onsemi and its predecessors have operated out of the 52nd Street and McDowell Road location, previously used as a manufacturing facility and most recently for design and solution engineering labs and as onsemi’s headquarters. As of March 1, onsemi has shed the outdated facilities in favor of a modern work environment designed for collaboration, culture building and improved sustainability, located at 5701 N. Pima Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85260.
During an inauguration event on March 10, onsemi and its employees were officially welcomed to their new home with remarks from onsemi president and CEO Hassane El-Khoury; Doran Dalton, assistant community manager, Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC); and Mark Stanton, president and CEO, Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce. Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, onsemi employees and guests enjoyed live music, refreshments and carnival-style games.

“We’re looking forward to working together and connecting onsemi and all of its employees to others within the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community,” said Dalton.
Established in 1879, SRPMIC is a self-governing tribe, located in the Phoenix Metropolitan area, with its own programs, projects, departments and facilities. It is bordered by Mesa, Tempe, Scottsdale and Fountain Hills, sharing a Scottsdale address with onsemi’s new HQ facility. SRPMIC has over 11,000 enrolled tribal members of two Native American tribes: the Pima, "Akimel O'Odham" and the Maricopa, "Xalychidom Piipaash.”
Giving Now
At its new Scottsdale site, onsemi will continue its tradition of community engagement focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) education grants as well as employee donation matching and volunteer opportunities. In honor of the inauguration, onsemi supported seven Arizona-based charities each with a $1,000 donation. With these donations, onsemi is proud to drive positivity forward by creating meaningful change for our communities in where we live and work.
Sustainability
The new building also plays a role in onsemi’s long-term goals. While the old headquarters laid the foundation of where the company is today, the new office aligns with the company’s future and its 2040 net-zero carbon emissions goal. Features such as the high windows-to-wall ratio, which improves lighting levels within the building, and daylight controls that are responsive to ambient daylight throughout the day led to a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Interior Design and Construction (LEED ID+C) Gold certification in 2019.
By moving to the new building, the companywill reduce its annual energy usage by 12.84 million kWh compared to its 2021 levels. This is equivalent to powering 1,057 homes’ electricity for an entire year, or the gas needed to drive 1,170 vehicles for a year, making onsemi’s headquarters significantly more sustainable.
“Moving into a building that is LEED Gold certified not only aligns with our sustainability goals but also reflects one important point on onsemi’s sustainability journey, which our other sites will follow,” said Kim Luu, senior director and head of Sustainability, Environmental and Social Governance (ESG), onsemi.
Sustainability is just one benefit of the new office. The building will also improve workflows between teams and departments. Up to 1,000 employees can collaborate in open workspaces, co-working spaces and conference rooms, giving onsemi employees a more functional environment to continue driving innovation and creativity. Modern amenities, including an on-site coffee shop, fitness center, training and conference centers, as well as extensive covered parking, make this location attractive for onsemi’s employees.
“The move to the new headquarters, along with our continued investment in U.S. semiconductor manufacturing and the local economy, marks our ongoing transformation as a company on the heels of a record fiscal year in 2022,” said El-Khoury. “The location and building of our new headquarters reflects our sustainability goals and the desire to be part of the communities we work and live in.”
