Czech Interns at onsemi

Gone are the days of uninspiring internships. Sure, coffee runs and taking meeting notes can help a business run smoothly (especially the coffee), but when you’re an ambitious student who’s passionate about making an impact, you want a challenge – not a cakewalk.

As a leader in intelligent power and sensing technologies, onsemi offers internships that not only challenge but also inspire. During onsemi internships, you’ll work on meaningful projects from day one.

From electrical engineering and supply chain management to workforce recruitment and more, our internships give high-performing students the opportunity to work on, or support, cutting-edge technologies and business strategies that enable a smarter, safer and more sustainable future.

Curious to learn more? Here are seven facts about onsemi’s internship program that might surprise you:

1. You’ll be part of an innovative and fast-growing industry

Our semiconductors have changed the lives of people around the world. They enable cars to see, devices to hear and sunlight to be converted into electricity. From electric vehicles(EVs) to industrial robots and much more, our products play a vital role in today's world – and the demand for them is only growing. In fact, global semiconductor revenue is projected to total $676 billion in 2022, an increase of 13.6% from 2021.

2. When you intern at onsemi, you’ll work on real-world projects

Taking lunch orders? That doesn’t happen here. During an onsemi internship, you’ll have the opportunity to work on challenging, high-impact projects, allowing you to expand your skills and exceed your own expectations. As an electrical engineering intern, you might perform a characterization analysis to test the functions of a device designed for a large EV manufacturer. Supply chain interns, on the other hand, oversee logical order processes to fulfill the orders on important and highly confidential government contracts. Is human resources your mission? Well you could be involved in project management for upcoming events!

Our technologies enable our customers to solve the world’s greatest challenges across different, exciting industries including automotive, energy infrastructure, industrial automation, and medical. While the day-to-day tasks of your internship may change, one thing is certain: you won’t be bored.

3Your internship can take you across the globe

Whether you’re interested in a mechanical design internship in China, refining your skills in software engineering in San Jose, California, or working with finance at our Phoenix, Arizona headquarters, there are numerous internship opportunities throughout the year.

Fun fact: onsemi’s corporate headquarters in Phoenix recently hosted two interns from our manufacturing site in the Czech Republic. Coming from a location that primarily consists of engineers, this international adventure gave the interns new insight and a different perspective into other important aspects of our business including marketing, sustainability, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).

 4. You’ll lead the way with cutting-edge, next-generation technology

If you think semiconductors are cool, just wait until you hear about silicon carbide (SiC), a key component of next-generation semiconductors. It’s made from silicon carbide powder and graphite raw materials, and it helps improve system efficiency in electric vehicles, EV charging and energy infrastructure. This critical technology is an important contributor to decarbonization and onsemi’s net-zero goal.)

With the recent expansion of our silicon carbide production facility in Hudson, New Hampshire, U.S., we’re slated to increase SiC production capacity five times year-over-year as we continue to make progress toward SiC leadership.

With more than 33,000 employees located throughout dozens of countries across Europe, Asia and the U.S., an onsemi internship will give you the opportunity to collaborate and network with people from around the world on a vast array of projects. You might jump on a video chat with a manufacturing team in Slovakia in the morning then email the China-based product marketing lead in the afternoon.
